How to Upgrade to Windows XP Pro SP2 Using a Full Version

Windows XP Service Pack 2 adds a variety of features and fixes to the Windows XP operating system. Notable updates include Windows Firewall, WPA encryption support, Internet Explorer pop-up blocking and Windows Security Center. Upgrading to Windows XP Service Pack 2 can be accomplished by downloading the full-version service pack instead of going through Windows Update.

Instructions

1. Navigate to Microsoft's website and search for "Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers."

2. Click "Download."

3. Save the file to an easily accessible download location.

4. Double click the download to start the installation. Click "Next." Choose the radio button marked "I Agree." Click "Next" twice and click "Finish." Your computer will restart and Service Pack 2 will be completely installed.
