How to Set IE As the Default Browser in XP
Windows XP sets Internet Explorer as your default web browser. The only time this changes is if you installed a variety of web browsers and made one of myour default web browser. Once you set a default web browser in XP, applications such as media players or links launch automatically with the browser you selected. If you are no longer interested in using other web browsers, revert back to Internet Explorer as your default browser.

Click the "Start" button and click "Set Program Access and Defaults." A new dialog box launches.

Click the "Custom" radio button and then click "Internet Explorer" under "Choose a default Web browser."

Click "OK" to save your changes. Internet Explorer is now your default web browser.
