How to Save Flash Movies Off the Internet
FLV is short for "Flash Video." Flash files are often the format used on streaming videos that you watch in your web browser. An example of a site that offers streaming videos in Flash format is YouTube. These videos are normally the kind you can only watch while connected to the web. Saving the files to your computer's hard drive requires a special tool such as a conversion website or a converter program. These tools are usually free to use.

Download and install YouTube Downloader (see "Resources"). Open a YouTube video you wish to save in your browser. Right-click on the address at the top to highlight it and produce a drop-down menu. Select "Copy." Open the Downloader program. It automatically pastes the address into the URL box at the top. Click the "Download" button to download the file in FLV format.

Navigate to Zamzar (see "Resources'). Copy the website address for the video you want. Click the "Download Videos" tab in Zamzar. Paste the website address into the first textbox. Type in your email address in the second text box. Click "Convert." Open your email and click the link to download the file.

Open your browser to ConvertFiles (see "Resources"). Click the "or download it from" option on the main page. Paste the web address into the text box next to that option. Click "Convert" and then click on the link produced to download the FLV file.
