Lip gloss is an indispensable makeup product for most women. Homemade lip gloss can be made at home within few minutes using few household ingredients that are commonly found in a kitchen. You can customize it to your liking by using different flavors and colors. The best part of making gloss at home is that it is natural and chemical-free. Things You'll Need

  • 1/2 cup petroleum jelly
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Flavoring and colouring of your choice
  • Microwave safe bowl
  • Spatula
  • Container

Instructions

      Make a mixture of petroleum jelly and vegetable oil in the bowl.

      Heat the mixture for about 45 seconds to one minute in a microwave. Ensure you do not overcook the lip gloss. If you do not have access to a microwave, heat the mixture in a double boiler over the stove.

      Add the flavor and color that is required to the microwaved mixture. You may add essential oils, fruit extracts, vanilla extract and different colors. Mix the flavor and colour properly using a spatula. Experiment with different flavors and mix them up. Use natural fruit color or artificial food coloring for the different colors.

      Empty the contents in a small container with a lid or in an old lip gloss container that is properly washed and dried.

      Allow the lip gloss to set and harden in the refrigerator for at least a day before using it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add vitamin E and/or glycerin to the gloss for its moisturizing properties.

  • You may add edible glitter or food coloring to the lip gloss.

  • If you feel the shade of the lip gloss is very dark, you may add little petroleum jelly to lighten it.

  • Use plastic containers to store your lip gloss in.

  • Store the lip gloss in the fridge to enhance its shelf life.
