How to Cut Thin Pavers
Pavers are used for a variety of outdoor projects, including patios, driveways, walkways and even garden edging. In some cases, the pavers are installed on top of an existing hard surface, such as a pool deck or driveway. In these cases, thin pavers are used instead of full-sized pavers. Thin pavers are only 1 to 1 1/8 inch thick and serve a purely decorative function. Cutting these thin pavers to fit is the same as cutting standard size pavers. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1
Lay all of the thin pavers in the project that you are building, including the ones that you need to cut. These final thin pavers will stick out of the desired area, making it easier to mark the cut lines on them.
-
2
Stretch a chalk line across the entire length of the edge of the desired project area and snap the line to mark the cut lines on the thin pavers. If the area is curved, lay a piece of 1/2-inch-diameter PVC pipe at the edge of the area and bend the ends until they form the proper arc. Secure the pipe in place with extra pavers or have assistants hold it while you drag a pencil along the pipe to mark the cut lines.

3
Insert a diamond-tipped saw blade into a cut-off saw or a masonry saw. Plug the saw in and put on safety glasses and a dust mask. Place one thin paver on a work table and secure it with clamps. Make sure that the cut line is hanging off of the table.
-
4
Turn the saw on and move it across the cut line on the paver, lightly touching it. This creates a score line approximately 1/4 inch deep in the thin paver.
-
5
Return the saw blade to the starting position and allow the saw to cut all the way through the paver.
-
6
Repeat the process to cut all remaining thin pavers.
