How to Make Thai Armbands
If you have ever seen Muay Thai kick boxers, then you may have noticed the armbands that are a part of this fighting style that is a tradition in Thailand. The armbands are one or two groups of braided or knotted cord with loose ends hanging down, which are worn tightly around the arms of the fighters as they train. You can make your own Muay Thai armbands with a few simple materials.

1
Measure and cut six 3-feet long pieces of ribbon in the colors you want. You will need plenty of extra length to braid the ribbons and for the ends that will hang down.
-
2
Lay all six pieces of ribbon out in a group so that the ends line up. Measure 5 inches from one end and tie a simple knot in all six lengths of ribbon so that they are held together.

3
Hold the knotted end of the bundle of ribbons in place by clipping it to a clip board or securing it to a steady surface with a safety pin. Separate the three ribbons on the right from the three ribbons on the left. Braid the right three ribbons until you have 5 inches left at the end. Wrap a small, clear rubber band around the ribbons to hold the braid together while you braid the three ribbons on the left.
-
4
Tie a simple knot to hold the ends of the left braid and right braid together, with 5 inches of loose ends hanging from each side.
-
5
Place the two ends together so that the loose ends and knots on each side are aligned on both sides of the arm band. Bring one group of three ribbons up so that it doubles over itself.
-
6
Loosely wrap the doubled ends around both groups of three two times and feed the ends through the loop you just made. Pull the ends of both groups of three ribbons to tighten the adjustable knot. Now you can easily put on and remove your arm band by sliding the adjustable knot to make the arm band wider or smaller.
