How to Use Doxycycline to Get Rid of Acne
Acne is the medical term used to describe pimples, plugged whiteheads, blackheads, cysts and nodules that commonly occur on the face, neck, arms and back. According to dermatologist Dr. Jenny Kim, acne is a skin problem that affects 40 to 50 million people in the United States. Acne is formed when sweat glands are infected with bacteria or are overstimulated. Common causes of acne include blockage of skin pores, puberty, medications, genetics and bacteria. Doxycycline is a commonly recommended antibiotic used to treat acne. Using doxycycline properly can help you get rid of acne.

Take doxycycline tablets or capsules once or twice a day. Take doxycycline twice daily if you have been prescribed the 50 mg pill. Take doxycycline once daily if you have been prescribed the 100 mg pill.

Shake the Doxycycline well if you are prescribed the suspension or syrup form. Shaking will ensure that you mixed the medication.

Take doxycycling after eating. Taking this medication with food will lessen the incidence of getting an upset stomach. In short, eating before taking doxycycline will make you less susceptible to painful reactions to this antibiotic.

Continue to take doxycycline even if you that your acne is gone. Take all the medication until you are finished, unless your physician instructs you otherwise.
