Dry Bowser, an unlockable character in "Mario Kart Wii," is a revival of the skeleton of Bowser that first appeared in “New Super Mario Bros.” Similar to Bowser, who is initially available, Dry Bowser is a heavy class racer with a high top speed, low acceleration rate, and low off-road performance.

Instructions

    • 1

Click “Grand Prix” in the main menu.

    • 2

Choose “150cc” on the class selection screen. This is the only class where Dry Bowser can be unlocked.

    • 3

Click a character, vehicle, and drift type to select your racer options.

    • 4

Finish the Mushroom Cup, Flower Cup, Banana Cup, and Shell Cup. You must place third or better and get at least a star rating for your driving ability. Your placement determines if you unlock more Cups to compete in. The star rating for driving ability is part of the unlock requirement for Dry Bowser.

    • 5

Finish the Star Cup and Leaf Cup. You must place third or better and get at least a star rating for your driving ability.

    • 6

Finish the Lightning Cup and Special Cup with at least a star rating for your driving ability. Your placement in these two Cups does not matter for unlocking Dry Bowser, only the driving ability rating.

Tips & Warnings

  • Each character in “Mario Kart Wii” has his own unique stat bonuses. Dry Bowser’s stat bonuses are different from normal Bowser. Dry Bowser gains a bonus to mini-turbo usage and off-road performance. The mini-turbo bonus can help Dry Bowser overcome his low acceleration rate by boosting his speed more quickly than is normally possible.

  • Due to Dry Bowser being the skeleton of Bowser, he does weigh less than normal Bowser.

  • The 150cc class in “Mario Kart Wii” is roughly equal to being the "hard" difficulty level.

  • Every character is capable of unlocking Dry Bowser, but it may take some practice to become good enough with any individual racer to unlock him. It will be easier to select one character to use for every race than to switch between racers based on stats.
