How to Connect a Wii to HD TV
The Nintendo Wii video game system allows you to play a variety of games on your home high-definition (HD) television. While the Wii is not capable of displaying in true high-definition since it has no HDMI port, it is possible to connect the game system to your television using component or RCA cables. Component cables allow a higher video quality connection as compared to standard RCA cable connection. Component cables have five input jacks, while RCA have three.

Power down both your Wii game system and your HD television.

Connect the jacks for the component cable into the component ports located on the back of your television. The jacks and ports are-color coordinated, with the video jacks and ports being green, blue and red, and the audio jacks and ports being red and white.

Connect the component cable to the port located on the back of the Wii. There will be a single output port that will match the jack on the component cable.

Power on your Wii and television.

Change the input on your television to component. This can typically be done by pressing the "Input" button on your televisions remote control.
