How to Download Google Talk Software

Google Talk is a chat application similar to other instant messenger services such as Skype, MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Instant Messenger. Google Talk allows you to send messages to contacts, transfer files and set status updates. You can also make free PC-to-PC calls and have audio conferences within the downloaded version of Google Talk. In order to use Google Talk, you must first download the software application.

Instructions

1. Click the "Download Google Talk" button on the Google Talk download page listed in Resources.

2. Choose "Save" when the Google Talk download dialog box appears on your screen. You can save the file in the desired location---either on your Desktop or "My Documents" folder.

3. Wait for Google Talk to download. This will take a few minutes, depending on your Internet connection speed.

4. Click on the Google Talk icon once downloaded. The program will load and prompt you for your Google account username and password. If you don't have a Google account, follow the link provided on the Google Talk interface to create one.

Tips & Warnings

• Google Talk will update automatically when the software is updated. You can manually check for updates by right-clicking on the Google Talk icon and selecting "Check for Updates Now."

• Google Talk will not work on any operating systems released prior to Windows XP.
