How to Disconnect Onstar on a 2002 Cadillac Escalade

Remove Onstar ro prevent being tracked or charged for its use.

Onstar is helpful during emergencies, but it can be costly and invasive. Even after you cancel an Onstar subscription, a quick button push could cost you a few bucks. Turning off Onstar once and for all on your 2002 Cadillac Escalade prevents any accidental billing from Onstar or invasion of privacy.

Instructions

1. Open your rear trunk hatch. Remove the tub cover in the center of the trunk.

2. Remove the sill plate in the trunk by unscrewing the four cargo net holders closest to the rear of the trunk. Pull up on the loose sill plate and remove it from the trunk.

3. Remove the cargo net holders on the right side of the trunk. Grab the front of the right side pane and pull it slightly toward the front of the car. Pull the side pane toward the middle of the trunk. You do not need to remove the side pane; just move it out of the way to grant access to Onstar's trunk unit.

4. Remove the three connectors attached to the module. They are located at the front of the module and aim down.

5. Replace the side pane and all of the cargo net holders. Replace the sill plate and tub cover.
