How to Make a Proxy on Dreamweaver

How to Make a Proxy on Dreamweaver thumbnail
Create a dynamic site in Dreamweaver, and a proxy server can be set up.

A proxy server is a computer or application program that acts as an intermediary when accessing other servers. A computer connects to the proxy server, and the proxy server connects to a different server. In Dreamweaver MX and newer versions, Dreamweaver can become a Web browser, thereby serving as a proxy server. The proviso is that this only works with a file saved in Dreamweaver MX (or newer) as a dynamic site, either .asp or .php. That is how to make a proxy on Dreamweaver.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a new document in Dreamweaver MX or higher and choose ASP as the file type (dynamic site).

    • 2

Save the file and give it any name you choose.

    • 3

Open the saved file again in Dreamweaver. Choose Window > Server Components. This opens the Server Components panel.

    • 4

Select Web Services from the pop-up menu, click the Plus (+) button, and choose "Add Using WSDL" (Web Services Description Language).

    • 5

Make sure that the Proxy Generator pop-up menu is set to either .net C# or .net VB. Click "OK."

    • 6

Click on the "server debug" icon (a globe with a lightning bolt above it). Type any Web address in the address bar. Dreamweaver can now serve as a proxy server.
