How to Turn the AVG 7 Anti-Virus Protection On

AVG alerts you whenever it detects the presence of a suspicious file.

AVG 7 is an older version of the AVG Anti-Virus software, which is made available to consumers free of charge. It is important to protect your computer with an anti-virus application, such as those made by AVG, to defend the system and its contents from potentially harmful files and programs. In some instances, such as installing networking software, you will need to disable your anti-virus software. After the installation is complete, you should immediately re-enable the software so that your computer is once again protected.

Instructions

Launch AVG Anti-Virus

1. Open the "Start" menu by clicking the "Start" button on the bottom-left side of your screen or by pressing the "Windows" key on your keyboard.

2. Click "All Programs" or "Programs," depending on your version of Windows.

3. Select the "AVG Free Edition" folder from the programs list, and then click "AVG Free Control Center" to open the AVG anti-virus program, which will automatically enable the anti-virus protection.

Enable From Disabled State

1. Double-click the AVG icon located in your system tray to open the AVG Residential Shield if the anti-virus is running but inactive. If the software is disabled, the AVG icon in the system tray may appear to be gray in color.

2. Click to place a check mark in the box labeled "Turn on AVG Resident Shield."

3. Click "Save" to enable the anti-virus protection and to save your settings.
