How to Convert a WMV to a DVD With Free Downloads
WMV stands for Windows Media Video, and was developed by Microsoft. DVD stands for Digital Versatile Disc or Digital Video Disc, a popular optical storage media format. WMV uses a different encoding method than that which is used for the DVD format. DVD Flick, Cucusoft's WMV to DVD Converter and the WMV to DVD Burner are three free programs that will convert and burn WMV files to DVD.

Download, install and run DVD Flick. Click the "Add Title" button to choose the WMV files from the hard drive. Double-click on a video file after importing to edit the video file's chapter settings.

Click the "Project Settings" button to manipulate the various video settings for the DVD disc, such as audio, video, playback and burning settings. Choose a destination folder at the bottom of the main program screen. This is where DVD Flick will store the converted video files before burning them to DVD.

Click the "Create DVD" button to begin encoding the video files to the proper DVD format. Place a blank DVD disc in the burner drive. After encoding has finished, the program will automatically burn the DVD.
Cucusoft WMV to DVD Converter

Download, install and run the Cucusoft WMV to DVD Converter software. From the main program screen, click the "To DVD" tab at the top of the screen.

Click "Open/Add" and select one or more WMV files from the hard drive to be converted to DVD. Then select the "Batch" function to process multiple WMV files at the same time and keep the videos separate on the output DVD, or choose the "Merge/Join" function to take multiple video clips from different files and convert them into one long video on the DVD.

Click "WMV to DVD" as the conversion method. Use the "More Advanced Settings" button to set advanced options, such as aspect ratio, frame rate and bit rate.

Click the "Output Folder" box to set an appropriate location on the hard drive for the converted video files, then click the "Convert and Burn" button to begin converting the video files. Wait for the conversion to finish.

Choose the correct DVD writer drive from the pop-up box and put a blank DVD disc into the DVD writer. Click "Next" and then "Burn" to begin burning the DVD.

Download, install and run the WMV to DVD Burner software. Click "Load Video" and select the WMV files from the hard drive. The videos will show up as thumbnails at the bottom of the screen.

Click on a video thumbnail and then right-click on it again to use the cropping, trimming and other basic video effects included with the program. Click the "Transition" button to add transitions between video clips.

Click "Menu" to add a custom menu to the DVD using templates. Click "Preview" to see how the DVD will look when finished. Place a blank DVD in the burner drive and click the "Burn" tab to burn the WMV files to DVD.
