How to Use DMG Files in Windows
A file with the extension .dmg is known as an Apple Disk Image file and is almost always associated with the Mac OS X operating system. A .dmg file contains what is called "block data," which is compressed information and thus it's an easy way to send large files or programs to another user via the Internet. Because it is a Mac OS X file type, Windows-based computers are not set up to be able to read the compressed data, however, there are several programs that are available for free that will enable your Windows PC to extract the compressed data in a .dmg file.

Tips & Warnings
Keep in mind that while these programs will enable your Windows-based PC to extract the data compressed inside a .dmg file, Apple software will neither install nor run on Windows-based PCs. Only specific file types will run on your PC (most video and audio, text, html and executable files among them).
The sites linked below have been verified, but be wary of downloading any files with the extension .exe from unknown websites as these can sometimes be viruses.
