Blues and violets bring out blue eyes and green eyes.

Different styles of application require one to three colors of eye shadow in complimentary and contrasting colors. Instructions

    • 1

Choose eye shadow colors based on your eye color. For blue eyes, shades of light brown, blue and violet shades of eye shadow bring out the eyes. For green, choose purples, mauves, pinks, grays, browns and blacks. For hazel or brown eyes, use plums, blues and blue gray colors.

    • 2

Spread liquid foundation matching your skin tone over the eyelid and up to the eyebrow. This will prime the area to hold the eye shadow longer.

    • 3

Brush from eyelash to bottom of eyebrows with the light color eye shadow and shadow brush. Cover this area completely with the light color.

    • 4

Apply the medium color to the lid of the eye. For a more exotic look sweep the medium color up and towards the temple and around to the bottom corner of the eye using the chisel brush. Blend the medium color edge with the lighter color.

    • 5

Apply the dark color to the crease of the eye. This color may also be swept up using the chisel brush to frame the up swept medium color. Blend the darker color edges with the light and medium colors for a smoky look.

    • 6

Use the fourth color to create a rounded look brush a small amount just under the eyebrow outer corner. Apply the other colors as above but do not sweep them around the eye.

Tips & Warnings

  • Clean the brushes by tapping them against a hard surface over a trash can between each color. Otherwise, the colors may become muddied. For smaller, deep set eyes, use a lighter color at the corner to brighten the eye. White shadow or pencil placed near the inner tear duct will also brighten the eye. Use glitter based or metallic colors for a bolder look.
