How do I Change Sea Water Into Drinking Water for Home Use?
Humans cannot drink seawater. The salt content of the water causes dehydration, which can kill you. There are easy ways to turn saltwater into drinkable fresh water. 1
Purchase a reverse osmosis filtration system for your home. Reverse osmosis uses ions to remove the salt and other particles from the water, leaving you with fresh water. These filtration systems are popular on large boats, and can easily be used in the home. Filtration systems are very expensive, however, so constructing a simple evaporation sill might be a better option.

Set the kiddy pool in a sunny spot and put the 5-gallon bucket in the center of it.

3
Drive the four wooden sticks into the ground around the kiddy pool. Fill the kiddy pool with salt water and drape the plastic tarp over the sticks. Use four of the rocks to anchor it to the ground.

Lower the fifth rock in the center of the tarp so it sits just over the bucket, making a cone-shaped depression in the tarp. As the sun warms the seawater, it will evaporate. The fresh condensation will collect on the tarp and follow the cone-shaped depression, dripping into the 5-gallon bucket.

5
Replenish the kiddy pool with seawater whenever the 5-gallon bucket is full of fresh water. Use the fresh water around the home for cooking, drinking or bathing.
