How to Send a Fax to Email on Linux
If you want to send a fax to an email account using Linux, a reliable way is to start an account with an Internet faxing service. Quite a few browser-based services are available online that will deliver faxes into your email inbox. They do this by giving you a service phone number anyone can send a fax to, uploading the fax to their servers and then sending the fax into your email inbox.

Sign up for eFax Free (see Resources). Enter your full name, email address, phone number, location and zip code. Click "Start Faxing." EFax will now send you a conformation email containing a new fax number that anyone can send faxes to, thus delivering them into your email.

Sign up for FaxBetter (see Resources) and enter a valid email account. Create a password and enter it into the "Password" form. Click "Get My Free Fax Number." FaxBetter will send you an email containing account information and a new personal fax number. Any fax sent to this number will be forward to your email inbox.

Send a fax to your new fax number using an online faxing service. Direct your browser to the MyFax website listed in the Resources section. MyFax services 41 countries and will fax for free files no larger than 10 megabytes or longer than 10 pages.

Enter the name, company and country you wish to send to a fax to in the "To" field. Enter your new email fax number into the "Fax Number" field. Enter a valid email address into the "From" field so you can confirm your fax submission using your email account. Choose the file you wish to submit by clicking "Choose File" under the Fax Message screen. Click "Send Fax" to send a fax.

Tips & Warnings
If MyFax is not working for you or it is not the program you wish to use, other online fax-sending services are available. Both FaxZero and GotFreeFax.com allow anyone to send a free fax online (see Resources).
