How to Update the Avira Anti-Virus
Avira AntiVir protects your computer against many forms of computer viruses and runs in the background to monitor your system. The software, which comes in free and paid versions, needs to keep its virus definitions up to date to effectively protect your computer. An integrated updater allows you to keep the software current.

Open Avira AntiVir. Click "General" and then "Update."

Choose "Download and Automatically Install Product Updates."

Right-click the system tray icon and choose "Start Update" if you don't want to open the control panel. Click "Overview" and then "Status" or click the menu labeled "Update." Click "Start Update" to manually begin the update from the Avira Control Center.

Click "Management" and then "Scheduler."

Choose "Create a new job with the wizard."

Enter a name and description for the job, such as "Automatic program updates." Click "Update Job."

Choose a time interval for your anti-virus updates. You can choose immediately, daily, weekly, interval or single. Avira's recommendation is to have the automatic update run daily. Set the specific time or date if applicable to your selections. Click "Finish."
