How to Make LEGO Swords

Legos are versatile toys and play is limited only by one's imagination.

Slash and stab your imaginary enemies with a LEGO sword created solely from the building bricks. Your LEGO sword can be large enough to fit in your hand or small enough for your action figures to wield in battle. Because LEGO building is based on turning your ideas into reality, choose your favorite sword from a movie or mythology and replicate it. Build another LEGO sword for a friend and team up to take out the monsters that invade your back yard.

Things You'll Need

• 5, 4 by 4 LEGO plates
• 45, 4 by 2 LEGO bricks
• 2, 4 by 10 plates

Instructions

1. Place a 4 by 4 plate onto a flat surface. Stack two 4 by 2 bricks side by side on top of the plate. The bricks should not spill over the ends of the plate.

2. Stack two more 4 by 2 bricks on top of the previous two rotating them so they are perpendicular to the bricks beneath.

3. Stack three more rows of 4 by 2 bricks, rotating each row 90 degrees as you move upward

4. Place a 4 by 10 plate on top of the top row of 4 by 2 bricks. Three spaces of the plate should hang off the right and left side of the bricks.

5. Stack two rows of 4 by 2 bricks on top of the plate. Use five bricks across each row.

6. Place another 4 by 10 plate on top of the bricks to secure them in place. This creates the handle of the sword.

7. Stack three rows of two 4 by 2 bricks next to each other in the center of the 4 by 10 plate. This will form a continue line with the 4 by 2 bricks beneath the handle. Rotate each brick 90 degrees to increase support.

8. Place a 4 by 4 plate on top of the third row of bricks.

9. Stack three more sets of bricks, with each set containing three rows of 4 by 2 bricks and one 4 by 4 plate. This will create the blade of the LEGO sword.

10. Stack a single 2 by 4 brick on the top row so that it is perpendicular to the handle of the sword. This brick acts as the tip of the blade.

Tips & Warnings

• Add more sets of bricks for a longer sword.

• Set the first third of the bricks in the blade one space to the left of the one beneath it, the middle third of the bricks straight up and the final third of the bricks one space to the right of the one beneath to create the curved blade of a scimitar.

• Don't swing the sword too hard or hit another sword with it or your LEGOs may detach.
