Instructions

    • 1

Push the bobbin winding spindle on the front-right side of the top of the machine to the left. Place an empty bobbin on the bobbin winding spindle. Place the thread on the thread spindle located behind the bobbin spindle. Be sure any slits in the edge of the spool are on the bottom of the spool so they will not catch the thread.

    • 2

Pull the thread to the right and wrap it around the bobbin tension, go around the front of the knob. The bobbin tension is the round metal knob in the front center of the top of the machine. Pull the thread back toward the left and wrap it around the bobbin several times. Push the bobbin to the right.

    • 3

Disengage the hand wheel by pulling it to the right. Press the foot pedal and wind the bobbin until it is full. Open the bobbin compartment below the presser. Lift the latch on the bobbin case and pull it out.

    • 4

Hold the case by its latch in your left hand. Hold the bobbin in your left hand with the loose end of the thread going over the bobbin. If you look at the right side of the bobbin, the thread will be going clockwise. Insert the bobbin in the case and pull the loose end of the thread into the slit in the side of the bobbin case until it slips into the opening in the metal flap on the side of the case. Hold the bobbin case by the latch and replace it in the bobbin compartment.

    • 5

Push the hand wheel to the left to allow the needle to rise and fall again. Turn the hand wheel until the needle is at its highest point. Pull the thread from the spool to the left. Wrap it around the metal hook on top of the machine and bring it down through the tension slit and back up through the take-up lever slit. The take-up lever is the metal bar over the needle that rises and falls with the motion of the needle.

    • 6

Pass the thread through the slit in the top of the take-up lever, going from right to left, and back down through the take-up lever slit. Pass the thread through both hooks above the needle, going through the top hook first, and thread the needle from front to back.

    • 7

Hold the end of the thread as you turn the hand wheel to lower and raise the needle one time. This will pull up a loop of bobbin thread. Pull gently on the loop until the end of the bobbin thread comes out. Pull both threads back behind the needle.
