The privately owned United Parcel Service (UPS) is used by millions of businesses and individuals for shipping goods within the United States and around the world. Especially useful is My UPS, a customized account on the UPS website which allows businesses and individuals to schedule daily pickups; ship, track and pay online; receive one consolidated weekly bill; and order free shipping supplies and materials for packaging. Once registered with My UPS, customers can consolidate, track and streamline shipping, saving time and money.

Instructions

  1. Register a New UPS Account

      Go to the UPS.com website. The United Parcel Service landing page will display in your browser.

      Click the "Select your location" drop-down box; then select "United States - English."

      Click the blue right-arrow button to go to the UPS home page.

      From the top menu on the home page, select Shipping > Open a UPS Account. The "Open a UPS Shipping Account" page displays.

      Under the New Customers heading, click Register. The Register page displays, asking you to enter your UPS Registration Information.

      Enter the name of the contact person for this account.

      Create and enter a user ID.

      Enter your email address and confirm.

      Create and enter a password and confirm.

      Click Next. The "Register for My UPS: Enter Your Profile Information" page displays. Enter the details of your customized UPS account on this page.

    Customize Your New UPS Account

      In Section 1 of the "Register for My UPS: Enter Your Profile Information" page, enter your contact information, including your job title, company name, country, street address, city, state, zip code, and business telephone number.

      In Section 2, select your shipping defaults. These are the shipping options you choose most frequently. Click the "Service" drop-down list and select the desired shipping service type. If you are not sure, select UPS Standard. Now click the "Packaging" drop-down list and select the type of packaging you ship out the most. If you don't see your option in the list, select "My Packaging."

      In Section 3, select the e-mail correspondence you would like to receive regularly from UPS (if any).

      In Section 4, select the option that best describes your company's shipping habits (e.g., you don't ship daily or you use UPS daily).

      Read and agree to the UPS Technology Agreement in Section 5. Check the box in the bottom left, then click Next. The registration confirmation page displays, but you must further customize your UPS account including your shipping needs, billing and location, and credit card information.

    Describe Shipping Needs

      From the registration confirmation page, click Next. The "Open a UPS Account: Tell Us Your Shipping Needs and Volume" page displays.

      In section 1, click the "What is your primary reason for opening a UPS Account?" drop-down list and select the appropriate option: starting a new business, creating a one-time shipment, currently using another carrier, or need an additional UPS account. Select business or personal use and whether you need automatic scheduled pickup.

      In Section 2, click the drop-down lists to specify approximately how many letters and/or packages you ship per week via ground, air, or international. Also select whether you ship hazardous materials or high value or breakable goods.

      Click Next. The "Enter Your Billing and Location Information" page displays.

    Enter Billing and Location Information

      In Section 1 of the "Enter Your Billing and Location Information" page, review the location address. Make sure all the information you provided previously is correct and up-to-date.

      In Section 2, enter the billing address.

      Check the "Use Location Address as Billing Address" box if the billing address is the same as your location address.

      Click Next. The "Enter Your Payment Card Information" page displays.

    Enter Credit Card Information

      In Section 1 of the "Enter Your Payment Card Information" page, enter your credit card details. If the address is the same as the billing address, check the "Use Billing Address as Payment Card Address" box.

      In Section 2, enter your credit card information. This includes card type, card number, verification code, and expiration date.

      Click Next. The "Verify Your UPS Account Information" page displays.

      Review all of your account information. If it is correct, click Submit; otherwise click Edit to edit individual sections, then click Submit. Your customized UPS account is now active.

Tips & Warnings

  • Have your business address and credit card number in hand before registering with My UPS.

  • If you no longer wish to keep your My UPS account active, you can cancel your registration at any time by selecting My UPS > Manage My UPS > Cancel Registration.
