      Connect your Linksys Wireless-G router to a nearby power outlet.

      Connect an Ethernet cable from the Internet output of your modem to the internet input of your router.

      Connect another Ethernet cable from any of the available outputs on your router to a computer.

      In your Web browser (on the computer connected to the router) type 192.168.1.1 and press "Enter."

      Type in the default username ("admin") and the password ("admin") when prompted. This is the default log in information for all Linksys routers.

      Create a wireless network name that you want to become the name of your wireless network.

      Make your wireless network password-protected if you live within a close distance of neighbors.

      From your Linksys settings page (192.168.1.1) select "Wireless," then "Wireless Security."

      Select a "Security Mode." WEP and WPA2 are the most common and easiest to configure.

      Type in a passphrase for your password that you can remember.

      Select "Save Settings."
