Installing an amplifier in your car can be easy with the right prep.

Installing an amplifier in your car not only amplifies your stereo's sound to make it louder, it also gives it a cleaner, more distinguishable sound. Though you probably think the only way to have an amplifier installed is to go to a professional and pay more money than you can afford, installing an amplifier on your own can be done.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect your car's battery terminal and run the power wire from your amplifier wiring kit from your car's battery to your amplifier.

    • 2

Place an in-line fuse in between the connection of the power wire from your car's battery to your amplifier (the closer to your car's battery, the better).

    • 3

Run RCA cables from the back of your stereo's head unit to your amplifier (run the RCA cables on the opposite side of your car as the power wire).

    • 4

Run the remote wire (normally a thin blue wire) from the back of your stereo's head unit to your amplifier (on the same side you ran the RCA cables).

    • 5

Connect your car speakers or subwoofers to your amplifier using speaker wire.

    • 6

Run a ground cable from your amplifier to almost any metal surface in your car (the closer to the amplifier, the better).

    • 7

      Reconnect your car's battery terminal.
