How to Troubleshoot a Broken Nintendo DS Lite
The Nintendo DS Lite improved on the original design of the DS by making the system slimmer and lighter while also featuring a longer battery life and a screen that is more easily seen in sunlight. If you have problems with your DS Lite, the system may not be broken, but will need you to run through some troubleshooting steps to diagnose the situation.

1
Make sure the game cartridge is completely inserted into the appropriate slot. If it is not, the system can lock up even when an image appears on the screen.
-
2
If the DS Lite does not emit any sound, adjust the volume control. You may have accidentally turned the volume down. If you are using headphones, make sure they are adequately inserted into the headphone jack.

If the screen stays blank after you turn on the DS Lite, check to see that the battery is charged. The battery may not have enough juice to power the system. You should see a green or red light come on near the hinge if the battery has a charge. Make sure the AC adapter is fully connected to a wall outlet.

Wipe the screens with a soft cloth if you are having problems with the touch controls. The touch screen may not work properly if it is dirty. If the stylus still does not seem to work on the touch screen after cleaning, check the instruction book of the game you are playing to ensure proper operation of the stylus.

5
Inspect the game slots and game connectors for dirt and other foreign material. This could cause the system to lock up and not operate correctly.
