How do I Fix an HP 1200?

The HP Laserjet 1200 is a black and white laser printer that prints up to 15 letter-size pages per minute, with the first page printing in less than 10 seconds, according to HP. An optional copy/scan unit is available for the printer. If your HP Laserjet 1200 is not working, try some troubleshooting tips before calling a technician.

Instructions

  1. Paper Jams

    • 1

Open the printer's front door to expose the toner cartridge. Fold out the printer's manual output tray in the back of the device.

    • 2

Move the two green levers in the back of the printer down. Pull out any stuck pieces of paper inside the printer.

    • 3

Remove the toner cartridge from the printer and place it on a sheet of paper. Pull out any stuck pieces of paper that you can see once the toner cartridge is out of the printer.

    • 4

Inspect the printer's rollers in both the front and rear of the machine. Spin the rollers around with your hands and remove any small bits of paper.

    • 5

Reinstall the printer's toner cartridge. Close the printer's front cover and rear manual output tray.

    Replace the Pickup Roller

    • 6

Remove the power cord from the back of the printer. Allow the printer to sit for 15 minutes so inside parts cool completely.

    • 7

Open the printer's front door and pull out the toner cartridge. Pull the white tabs on either side of the pickup roller away from the roller.

    • 8

Roll the pickup roller toward the front of the printer. Once the roller begins to move out of its position, pull It the rest of the way out of the printer.

    • 9

Place the new roller in the pickup roller slot. Roll the pickup roller toward the back of the machine until the two white tabs snap into position.

    • 10

Replace the toner cartridge and close the printer's front cover. Plug the power cord back into the printer.
