How to Prepare the Hair for a Quick Weave

While a quick weave may be a safe and easy alternative to traditional hair weave techniques, it is still important to properly prepare the natural hair for the weaving process. Not only will proper preparation of the nature hair protect the hair from damage, but it will allow the hair to lay flat, which will give the hair extensions a more natural appearance. There is a simple hair wrapping method that will protect the natural hair as well as provide a clean flat surface for quick weave extensions.

Things You'll Need

• Moisturizing shampoo
• Moisturizing conditioner
• Foam wrap lotion
• Rat tail comb
• Stocking cap

Instructions

1. Wash and condition the hair as you normally do using moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

2. Dry the hair with a clean towel to remove excess water.

3. Apply enough foam wrap lotion to thoroughly saturate the hair.

4. Comb the hair using a rat tail comb until the hair is wrapped around the head in a circular form. It may take several attempts before the hair is completely secured around the head.

5. Set the temperature of a hair dryer to a medium setting.

6. Sit underneath the hair dryer until the hair is completely dry.

7. Place a stocking cap over your head. Be sure that the stocking cap covers all of your hair completely. The hair is now ready for the quick weave process.

Tips & Warnings

• If you do not have a stocking cap, a weaving cap may be used as a substitute. You can purchase a weaving cap at any beauty supply store.

• Do not attempt to perform the quick weave process on hair that is not thoroughly dry. Weaving damp hair will cause the weave to become loose easily.
