For many people, the coffee pot is the most used appliance in the house. This daily use requires a deeper cleaning than simply rinsing the pot with water each day. Vinegar is a natural way to get rid of hard water build-up so water continues to filter through. Descaling a coffee pot about once a month will keep your coffee pot working correctly.       Look to see if there is an old filter inside the coffee machine. If there is, throw it away.

      Pour out any old coffee that may be sitting in the coffee pot.

      Fill the coffee pot with vinegar. Pour the vinegar in the back of the coffee machine where water is poured.

      Turn on the coffee maker and wait until all of the vinegar runs through and collects in the pot.

      Pour out the vinegar, and refill the coffee pot with water. Pour the water in the back of the coffee machine, and turn the coffee pot on.

      Wait for all of the water to run through the machine.
