How to Make a Heart Ring
Hearts can represent love, fidelity, friendship and goodwill, and heart rings can be a thoughtful gift any time of year. You can make them to give to friends in the place of friendship bracelets. Couples may exchange them as promise rings or even as a handmade engagement ring. One of the best things about making these rings yourself is that you can personalize them to your tastes. Since these rings use two beads, you may choose two different colors that mean something special to you, such as birthstone colors.

1
Cut one foot of 22 gauge craft wire. Center it on your ring mandrel over the desired size. A ring mandrel is a tapered rod with ring measurements marked from one end to the other. Wrap the sides of the wire down around the mandrel, cross them on the underside and bring them back up around.

2
Bend the two sides of the wire toward each other and twist them together once so the twist touches the ring mandrel. Slip a teardrop, point down, onto each wire. Push the beads down until they rest against the wire wrapped around the mandrel.

3
Pinch the beads together so they touch, forming a heart. Twist the wires sticking out of their rounded tops together once. Slide the ring off of the mandrel. Wrap the wires around the ring band three times on either side of the beads.
-
4
Grip the end of one wire with your round nose pliers. Turn the wire in on itself, coiling it into a spiral. Keep coiling until you have a spiral resting next to the side of the center beads. Repeat on the other side of the beads. Your ring is now ready to give or wear.
