Using the WGA tool, users can confirm they have a genuine copy of Windows or receive help in obtaining a genuine copy. The Windows Genuine Advantage tool can be downloaded via Microsoft's download site. If the software is not genuine, the owner must either resolve the issue with Microsoft or purchase a legitimate product key.

Instructions

1. Visit the Windows Genuine Advantage download page.

2. Click the "Start Download" button for the Windows Genuine Advantage tool if it does not start automatically. Select "Run" if you are prompted.

3. When the installer is finished downloading, start it and follow the on-screen instructions for installation.

4. View the result and determine if your Windows software is genuine. Skip Step 5 if your copy is genuine. Continue to Step 5 if your copy is not genuine.

5. Refer to Microsoft's Frequently Asked Questions about becoming genuine. Decide if you can resolve the issue with Microsoft or if you will need to purchase a product key.
