Imagine that you’re watching your favorite drama on cable TV, but you also want to keep up with local news coverage of the progress of firefighters battling an inferno in your county. You can use the picture-in-picture (PIP) mode to monitor two different channels at the same time on your Vizio LCD TV. One channel is displayed in the main screen, and a second channel is displayed in a smaller sub-screen on top of the main screen.

Setup

Turn on the Vizio LCD TV and select the channel you want to watch in the main screen.

Press the “Menu” button on the remote and select “Parental Controls,” then “Rating Enable.” After making sure it is off or turning it off, press “OK.”

Press the “Menu” button on the remote, causing the Picture menu to appear on the TV screen. Press the up or down menu on the remote to navigate to the Setup Menu, then press “OK.” You will be presented with the picture-in-picture option, labeled “PIP.”

Press “OK” on the remote to select the Picture-In-Picture sub-menu. Select the input source for the second channel you wish to watch on the sub-screen. Input sources include “TV,” “Component 1” and “HDMI 1.” Then press “OK.”

Click on “Small,” “Medium” or “Large,” to select the size of the PIP window, then press “OK.”

Click “Main Screen” or “Sub-Screen” to select which screen you want the audio source to be, then press “OK.”

Using Picture-In-Picture

Press the “PIP/A” button on the remote to activate the picture-in-picture mode.

Press the “P.CH/D” button on the remote to select what channel to watch in the sub-screen.

Press the “P.Size/B” button repeatedly on the remote, cycling through small, medium and large to change the size of the sub-screen window.

Press the “Audio/FF” button on the remote while in PIP mode to switch audio from the sub-screen to the main screen.
