How to Make Cornhole Beanbags
Cornhole is a popular bean bag toss game that can be compared to horseshoes. Players toss bags filled with corn at a wooden platform. The game components are constructed of basic materials and can easily be made at home. The bean bags are simple canvas bags filled with feed corn; however the official rules for the game (as stated by the American Cornhole Association) provide specific dimensions, materials and weight for the bags. Follow these guidelines to ensure your beanbags meet regulation standards.
Things You'll Need
- 2 yards duck cloth/duck canvas
- 8 cups feed corn
- Upholstery thread
- Sewing machine
- Funnel or empty 20 oz. bottle
Instructions
-
-
1
Wash your fabric in the washer and dry thoroughly to shrink.
-
2
Draw eight squares on the fabric, each measuring seven inches by seven inches. Cut out the squares.
-
-
3
Place two squares together, lining up the edges so they are flush. Move in from the edge about 1/4 inch and sew along the edge, using a double stitch seam. (You can sew by hand, but a sewing machine will make this step much easier.) Leave one side open. Repeat to make four bags.
-
4
Turn each bag inside out to hide the seams.
-
5
Use your funnel or an empty plastic bottle (remove the bottom and the lid to form a makeshift funnel) to fill each bag with approximately two cups (14 to16 oz.) of feed corn.
-
6
Sew the opening shut, continuing to use the double stitch technique.
