How to Connect a Coax Cable to a New DVD/VCR Combo & an Old TV

A DVD/VCR combo unit connects to other components with RCA-type composite audio-video cables. Older TV sets that have only a coaxial cable connection can still be hooked up to a DVD/VCR combo unit using an RF modulator, which is available at electronics stores. The RF modulator has a coaxial jack on one end for the TV connection and composite jacks on the other for the DVD/VCR combo.

Things You'll Need

• Coaxial cable
• RF modulator
• Composite AV cable

Instructions

1. Connect the coaxial cable from the RF modulator's threaded output jack to the ANT IN jack on the back of the old TV. Turn the metal ring on each end of the cable clockwise.

2. Insert the three plugs on one end of the composite AV cable into the matching yellow, white and red input jacks on the RF modulator.

3. Plug in the three connectors on the other end of the cable into the AV out jacks on the DVD/VCR combo unit. Match the colors on the cables to the jacks.

4. Plug in the power cord for the RF modulator.
