How to Turn on Simple File Sharing in XP Home

Simple file sharing lets you share files on Windows XP with others on your network. By default, this feature is always active with Windows XP Home. However, if you have elected to turn off file sharing for security reasons, or if a firewall or other program has turned it off for you, you can turn file sharing back on again in order to enjoy the sharing capabilities of your computer.

      Double-click "My Computer" on your Windows desktop.

      Click the "Tools" menu in the window that appears, then select "Folder options."

      Click on the "View" tab in the window that appears.

      Click the box next to "Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended)" to turn on file sharing.
