Skype offers users the ability to make audio or video phone calls from computers and mobile devices. After downloading Skype, you also have the option of upgrading Skype by adding additional services you need or desire, making your Skype service more useful to you.

Instructions

1. Log in to your Skype account at the Skype website with your username and password. Alternatively, log in to Skype by opening the program, entering your username and password, and pressing "Sign In."

2. On the website, click the "Get Skype" tab to find out what version is the current Skype version available for download. Click the green "Download Now" button to download the latest version of Skype. Alternatively, you can also click the "Help" tab within your Skype program and select "Check for Updates" from the drop-down menu. If your version of Skype is outdated, you will proceed to a download page. Simply follow the prompts to upgrade your Skype program.

3. Upgrade your Skype program with paid services at any time. Visit the Skype website and log in with your username and password. Use PayPal, a credit card, Moneybookers or a prepaid card from Walmart to purchase a monthly subscription to enable the use of your Skype account for calling landlines and mobile phones. You can also use Skype to send text messages worldwide with a paid subscription. If you purchase "Skype Credit," you can use your credit points to use the paid features such as voicemail, text messaging, call forwarding and calling landlines and mobile phones.

Tips & Warnings

• If you don't know what version of Skype you are using, click the "Help" tab within your Skype program and select "About Skype" from the drop-down list. You will see a splash page appear with the Skype version you are using.
