How to Make Ringtones for 3G

The iPhone 3G is among the many variations of the device that is capable of hosting a variety of ringtone file types. While you can purchase ringtones from a number of programs or websites, you can also make your own ringtones for the 3G in just minutes from your computer. These ringtones can be made from songs saved to your iTunes library in minutes.

Instructions

1. Open your iTunes and right-click on the song you would like to use as a ringtone.

2. Click "Get Info," "Options" in the pop-up menu and change the starting and ending time of your song to a clip of 30 second or less. Click "OK."

3. Click on the file and select "Edit," "Preferences," and "Import Settings" in the pop-up menu.

4. Click "Import Using: AAC Encoder" in the "Import Settings" menu and click "OK." This will convert your clip to the ringtone-compatible Advanced Audio Coding format.

5. Click "Advanced: Create AAC Version" in the upper menu and your file will be converted and ready to transfer to your 3G as a ringtone.
