Copy and share your Mac Address Book.

There are two different ways you can make a copy of your Address Book on the Apple Mac. If you want a printout to share or keep as a backup, you can print all or part of the Address Book as a hard copy. If you want an electronic copy of your Address Book, you can create a vCard file (suffix .vcf) that can be stored on an external hard drive, or uploaded into another person's Address Book. The vCard format is also compatible with other address book software.

Instructions

  1. Printout

      Open Address Book and select the items you want to print. If you want print them all, press "Command" and "A" to select them all. You can print selected items by holding down the "Command" key while clicking on each.

      Click "File" and then "Print" from Address Book's menu bar at the top of the screen.

      Click "Print" in the printer interface window that pops up.

    Electronic Copy

      Open Address Book and select the items you want to copy. If you want copy them all, press "Command" and "A" to select them all. You can copy selected items by holding down the "Command" key while clicking on each.

      Click "File" and then "Export" and "Export Group vCard" from Address Book's menu bar at the top of the screen.

      Insert a name and select a location for the file you will create from the pop-up window that appears.

      Click "Save" to create the copy.
