How to Reset the Parental Controls on DirecTV

DirecTV subscribers have receivers that allow them to scan channel guides, record programs, pause live TV and set up parental controls. DirecTV subscribers can choose to block certain types of movies and television shows from appearing on their television sets by programming their receivers to not allow the signals to come through on their televisions if there is violence, pornography, adult language or other adult themes or situations. To reset the parental controls, you must manually reset each category one at a time.

Instructions

1. Press the "Menu" button on the remote control to display the "Quick Menu" screen.

2. Push the "Down" arrow on the remote until your highlighter is on "Parental Controls." Press the "Select" button.

3. Use the "Down" arrow to highlight "Edit Settings" and press "Select."

4. Move the arrow key to highlight a category and press, "Select" to choose the first parental control setting you desire.

5. Enter your "Parental Control" code when the prompt appears. Highlight "Unlocked" and press "Select."

6. Proceed to highlight each category and return the setting on each to "Unlocked." You have now reset the parental controls on DirecTV.
