How to Tie a Pareo Sarong
A pareo is a Tahitian garment that is appropriate for tropical weather and is often used as a beach cover-up. A pareo, also known as a sarong, is a large rectangle of fabric that the wearer can tie any number of ways. There is a single, basic pareo or sarong tie that secures the garment in a dress-like fashion on the wearer's body. You can also wear a pareo as a skirt or top. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Hold the pareo behind your back so the long edge is parallel with the ground. Grasp the top left top corner in your left hand, and the right top corner in your right hand.
-
2
Pull the corners toward your chest, so the pareo wraps around your body like a towel.
-
-
3
Cross the corners over your chest and switch hands so your left hand is holding the right corner and your right hand is holding the left corner.
-
4
Pull the corners up and around the back of your neck. Make sure the pareo covers your chest. Tie the corners into a secure knot behind your neck. You now have a halter sarong or pareo tie.
-
5
Secure the front flap with safety pins, if you are concerned about exposure. If you are wearing the pareo as a beach coverup, that is not necessary.
