How to Make Index Cards Online

How to Make Index Cards Online thumbnail
Save paper and make your flashcards online--it's fast and easy.

Index cards are small, rectangular cards--usually 3-by-5 inches or 4-by-6 inches--that you can use for a number of purposes. One of the most common ways people use index cards is as a study tool--these are known as "flashcards." For example, if you're studying French, you might write "red" on one side of a flashcard and "rouge" on the other. Whether you want to save paper or you prefer typing to writing longhand, making flashcards online is straightforward.

Instructions

    • 1

Arrange your information according to whether it is a "clue" or "question" or an "answer." If you're studying French colors, for example, your list might look something like this:

Clues--White, black, blue, yellow, orange, green

Answers--Blanc, noir, bleu, jaune, orange, vert

    • 2

Point your web browser to the online flash card generator of your choice (a list is in Resources.) Register a free account, then choose "Create Flashcards" from the top of the screen.

    • 3

Name, describe and tag your set of flashcards, then copy and paste your "Clues" or "Questions" into the boxes on the left and your "Answers" into the ones on the right. Double-check your information to make sure it all corresponds--for example, that "Noir" matches with "Black" and not "White." Click "Save Flashcards."

Click the "Study" button to begin studying your flashcards and learning. Click the "Edit" button to edit or change your flashcards at any point.
