How to Make a Ponytail & Wrap Hair Around it

Though at first thought it might seem as though there’s not many different ways to wear a ponytail, ponytails are versatile with many options. One option is to put your hair up in a ponytail and wrap hair around the base of it to cover the ponytail holder. This makes the ponytail appear to be more modern and polished, rather than leaving the hair tie exposed. This technique takes a little practice, but with 15 minutes to spare you can master the technique and create a slick, polished appearing ponytail every time.

Step 1:

Shampoo and condition your hair as normal and allow it air dry; alternatively you can use a blow dryer to dry your hair completely. In order to create a smooth, modern appearing ponytail you must have clean hair free of oil and debris.

Brush your hair back into a smooth ponytail; tie your ponytail as high or low as you prefer, this can be anywhere from the base of the skull to the crown of your head.

Step 5:

Tuck the tips of the hair under the ponytail holder to secure them; this is the step that might take some practice. You want to secure just the tips beneath the hair tie without making the hair tie visible once more. A pencil or hair stick can help to tuck the tip beneath the hair tie.
