Eggshells, whether whole, crushed or pulverized, are useful for many things.

Eggshells are a perfect, all-natural package. Once the healthy egg is used or consumed, the eggshells can be re-purposed and recycled for many different things. Eggshells make a beneficial addition to the compost pile and they can be crushed for cleaning in the house as an all-natural abrasive or placed in the garden to repel insects.   • Eggshells
  • Paper towel
  • Mortar
  • Pestle
  • Plastic zip bag

Instructions

      Rinse the inside of eggshells to make sure they are not wet or sticky from the egg. Dry the eggshells gently by blotting with a paper towel.

      Place the eggshells in the bottom of a mortar. Crush the eggshells by pressing down with a pestle, inside the mortar. Continue to pulverize the eggshells until they are a fine powder.

      Store the powdered, pulverized eggshells in a plastic zip bag at room temperature until ready to use.

Tips & Warnings

  • Combine pulverized eggshells from one egg with an egg white. Apply the mixture to your face for a homemade skin-tightening facial mask.
