How to Open a Shortcut

Shortcuts are everywhere on computers and other devices. These are little icons that typically represent software that is opened by clicking on the shortcut. Microsoft Word's shortcut, for example, is a piece of paper with a blue "W" on it. Microsoft Excel's is a spreadsheet with a green "X" on it.

Instructions

1. Double-click a shortcut to open it on Windows.

2. Right-click a shortcut and choose the "Open" option that pops up to open a shortcut on Windows, as an alternative to double clicking.

3. Double-tap a shortcut with your finger to open it on a touchscreen device such as an iPhone or iPad or a touchscreen phone.
