How to Bypass Customer Service at Qwest

How to Bypass Customer Service at Qwest thumbnail
Sometimes you just want to talk to a human being.

When a person has an issue with the telephone or Internet service, sometimes they want to talk to an actual human being--instead of navigating through a series of computer generated questions and prompts. With today's telephone menus and Interactive Voice Response systems (IVRs), getting to a live representative can be a challenge, and Qwest Communications is no exception. If you want to skip the prompts and speak to a customer care representative more immediately, there are steps you can take to speed up the automated process.

Instructions

    • 1

Dial the Qwest Communications' customer service phone number. The number can most readily be found on the billing statement, or a copy of the work order.

    • 2

When prompted for an account number, either enter the account number or the phone number attached to the account.

    • 3

Speak the word "agent" after the computer asks for each prompt. Depending on call volume, you might have to repeat the word three to five times. When the IVR transfers you to the customer service queue, remain on the line until a live agent is heard on the line.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can skip Step 1 and Step 2, but this can result in an agent having to transfer you to a different department. It is best to give the account information up front.

  • Be prepared to wait. Skipping the prompts can place you in the bottom part of the queue, so the hold time for a live agent could possibly be longer than if you had followed the prompts.
