How to Troubleshoot Pop-Up Campers
Pop-up campers are compact, lightweight and highly maneuverable. You can fit them into those prime camping spots, and with the innovative pulley and lift system, they literally "pop-up" and presto, you have got a ready-to-go camper. As well-engineered as these systems are, over time, wear and tear can occur. Before calling in a camper repairman, there a a few basic steps you can troubleshoot right there at your campsite.

1
Check the winch gears for any sign of wear and tear. Lubricate the gears and handle bearings with water resistant grease. Lubricate all other bearings and shafts with oil, taking care not to allow any oil or grease to come in contact with the clutch brake mechanism.
-
2
Check all the cables for any damage and replace if necessary.
-
-
3
Check that the gas valve is turned on and the hoses are securely connected to the tank if the stove in the pop-up camper will not light.
-
4
Check that the drain on the side of the pop-up camper is off if the sink will not drain. Make sure that the sink's hoses are not kinked or bent.
-
5
Check that the power cord is plugged in and there is AC power available if there is no power to the pop-up camper. Inspect the converter for any tripped switches and blown fuses. Reset breakers as necessary and replace blown fuses with others of the exact same rating. Check that the kitchen unit is positioned on the safety switch if the lights do not come on.

Tips & Warnings
Place blocks beneath the camper's wheels to prevent the unit from rocking.
The winch system has been designed to require a little effort. This is for safety reasons and is normal.
Do not allow anyone to climb on the bunks until the support poles are securely in place.
Do not allow water from the camper sink to drain directly into the ground. Use a bucket or a septic system if available.
The two stabilizing jacks on the pop-up camper are not meant to bear weight. They should only be used to stabilize the unit.
Make sure the water, gas and electrical lines do not become kinked when raising the kitchen unit into position.
Make sure that the knobs on the stove are in the "Off" position before turning on the gas valve.
