How to Upgrade My GPS
When you purchase a Global Positioning System (GPS) unit, it comes pre-installed with its own software. You also typically receive some pre-loaded maps on the GPS device when you purchase it. Over time, you will need to upgrade both the GPS software and the maps that you have on the device. Both items can be upgraded directly through the manufacturer of the GPS unit. The upgrade process is similar across different brands.

Some GPS unit manufacturers give you the option of either downloading the upgrade to your computer or ordering your upgrade on disc. The two upgrades are identical.
