How to Turn on JavaScript in Google Chrome

How to Turn on JavaScript in Google Chrome thumbnail
Google Chrome lets you customize your security settings to fit your surfing needs.

HTML is a simple, text-based markup language invented by a physicist in 1991. Since then, the Internet has relied on HTML to produce the content that millions of users see every day. Unfortunately, HTML cannot execute instructions or interact with Web users. JavaScript, a scripting language, can. Most modern browsers, such as Google Chrome, support JavaScript and allow you to turn it on and off. Enable JavaScript in Chrome to enjoy all the features and interactivity that JavaScript-enabled websites can provide.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Google Chrome and click the "Tool" icon at the top right of the screen.

    • 2

Select "Options" and click "Under the Hood."

    • 3

Click "Content Settings" to open the "Content Settings" window. Click "JavaScript" in the "Features" section of the window. The "JavaScript Settings" window will open.

    • 4

Put a check by "Allow all sites to run JavaScript."

    • 5

Click "Close" to close the window.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some users disable JavaScript for privacy or security reasons. As Google points out, disabling JavaScript may cause some websites to work incorrectly. To disable JavaScript, remove the check mark that you placed in the "JavaScript Settings" window.
