Remote Desktop is installed and enabled on server systems such as Windows 2003 to allow network administrators to quickly configure network services. Many network servers are stored in a special room where the system is protected. Remote Desktop Assistance allows you to control the Windows 2003 desktop from your local computer. Enabling the service for your Windows 2003 machine only takes a few steps.

      Log in to the Windows 2003 using an administrator user name and password. Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Control Panel."

      Double-click the "System" icon in the Control Panel. This opens a main configuration window. In this window, click the "Remote" tab.

      Check the box labeled "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer." Click the "OK" button to save the new changes.
