How to Open an M4A for an iPod on a PC

M4A files are audio files that have been downloaded from the iTunes Store or files that were imported into your iTunes Library, then converted into the M4A format. M4A files that are saved on your PC can be transferred to an iPod, allowing you to listen to the M4A files when you're away from your PC. To open M4A files on a PC or add PC M4As to an iPod, you need to acquire the right Apple software program.

Instructions

1. Download and install iTunes.

2. Right-click over the M4A file.

3. Click the "Open With" selection in the menu.

4. Click "iTunes" in the new menu. The M4A opens in iTunes.
