Buy a large, solid-colored roll of Christmas wrapping paper and a roll of thick, contrasting ribbon. Make sure the roll of wrapping paper is wider than your front door.
Step2
Tape the paper to the top and then roll it down, securing the sides with tape as you go. Neither the tape nor the edges of the paper should be visible from the front.
Step3
Cut the paper at the bottom, leaving enough room to tape the edge of the paper under the door.
Step4
Attach ribbon to the door in a + shape so it looks like the top of a present.
Step5
Tie a large bow and tape it to the center.
Step6
Cut a small hole around the peephole with an X-Acto knife and remove the circle of paper.
Step7
Cut a 4-by-8-inch rectangle out of a piece of poster board and turn it into a gift tag by writing, "Merry Christmas from the [family name]" on it with a thick red or green marker. Attach it with the corner taped under the bow.
Tips & Warnings
Metallic paper looks better but is more difficult to work with, because it tears easily. If you decide to use metallic paper, make sure you buy a long enough roll to be able to start over if the paper tears.
If you have double entrance doors, you can wrap them as two presents using different two different kinds of wrapping paper and ribbon.
Check to make sure that your outdoor decorations are not in the direct line of your sprinklers.

If the door is used often, the paper will pull away from the staples and scotch tape pretty quickly. The best tape to use it is clear package tape. It's wide enough to hold the paper to the door securely and stands up to repeated use of the door.
